So by now you’ve heard and hopefully seen the Christian Siriano runway show during New York Fashion Week. I could talk about the beautiful dresses, I could even talk about how he stole the show and how awe-struck I was at the diversity. All of that you’ve heard and read days ago. I here for one reason and one reason only, to express my appreciation.
Let’s be frank. No more than two dark faces and one curvy body is allowed on ALL the runways of the ENTIRE fashion week. I won’t say high fashion runways ain’t for every body, but I will say they ain’t letting every body in hint, hint.
I was trolling instagram after a busy day and caught some video on June Ambrose’s feed. I immediately put the bat call out to my fashion friends to see if anyone had the full video and my fly, fashionable, and fearless friend Lisa came through. It left me speechless.
I am here to express my appreciation for the stacked hips and thick lips, the melanin popping and the bra cups with multiple alphabets. I here to show my appreciation for the faded haircuts and 4c textured hair. I here to show my appreciation for the unapologetic use of extra fabric to cover the thicker bones and fearless faces that wore it. I appreciate the recognition that the darker the berry the sweeter the juice and the shout out to the big girls. I appreciate Christian being a risk taker and a rule breaker. It’s over due.
Christian Siriano showed the Fashion world that nobody can do it better. He showed that thousand dollar beads, straight lines, great craftsmanship and bold colors and details look PHENOMENAL on all body types and skin tones.
You go boy! Not only did you rule the runway you turned a chapter in Fashion History.

Now I must admit I am a sucker for any kind of upper torso action in fashion, but I especially live for shoulder details; shoulder pads, structured shoulders, or a capped sleeve to enhance the shoulder, I love it all. Amazingly, this summers biggest trend bares it all, the off the shoulder detail! So, needless to say I am in social media heaven. I have searched through Instagram and Twitter feeds, and yes even Pinterest to find beautiful looks that make me have to sit on my hands to avoid the “must buy” itch! Why you ask? because I’m addicted!
Bloggers and everyday Fashionistas alike have rocked the trend and no two shoulder looks are alike. As one would imagine, what you could do with an off the shoulder look seems limited, but not so in 2016. We have seen some of the most innovative off the shoulder dresses, tops, and even some looks that have incorporated a mean sleeve. Many of the outfit of the day styles have been supremely minimalistic and it seems to be the perfect combination of style and smarts.
