Network Into The New Year Holiday Styling Mash Up

Happy New Year!! Last year was awesome for UnitedFront and we ended it on a high note with our Network into the New Year Holiday Styling event. We connected and networked with so many bloggers, friends, and over all stylish women in Detroit.

We had a blast discussing how to curate the perfect holiday look with Bloggers Bruna of Style-Mile, Kori of Colour By Numbr, and accessories stylist Brittany Chanel of Purple Love.

They answered questions our audience always wanted to know about blogging and how to create their own personal style. And you know we had to have a Fit Education segment. I shared fit tips, and suggestions for styling certain body types with live models, and the importance of knowing your body measurements. Those ladies left with a New Year resolution not only to get fit, but to also get FITTED.

It totally set the tone for 2016 and we are so ready, are you? If you are in the Detroit area sign up for our mailing list and we will keep you update on future events and our mobile trunk shows.

Tips To Becoming More Grateful

gratitude, wellness, well being

Realistically speaking, some folks are having the best year of their lives, while others are having the worst. All and all, we are still alive and that means another day to make a change. Either way, for that chance we should all be grateful. But with life comes ups and downs and we can easily forget how lucky we are. Sometimes in life we need a reminder and that’s ok, we’re human. Here are something’s for you to do daily to remind yourself of how blessed you are and to keep a little bit more joy in your heart.

Hum a tune – Ever see an older person humming the same tune over and over? That’s because it makes them happy. Music has the uncanny ability to lift our spirits. Keeping a song in your heart will keep you from forgetting it’s not that bad.

Write it down – A Gratitude journal gives you the ability to reflect daily on what you are thankful for. I bet without a doubt that as long as you are living your journal will never be empty.

Let’s talk about it – Sharing good things not only keeps you positive it encourages others. Tell others about the good things that are happening. There are things to be grateful for all around you and I. Share how grateful you are with the world, I am sure you will never run out of things to talk about.

Make it a lifestyle – Actively seek out finding good things every day. You will realize you are grateful for things you never even thought about, opening your eyes to a whole new world of grateful possibilities.

Do you have to remind yourself to be more grateful occasionally? What do you do to be more positive? Let us know below we can’t wait to share.

Productivity | The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

productivity - business

Pproductivity - businessProcrastination is an unfortunate part of life… The opposite of procrastination is productivity, but avoiding distractions and being productive can often times feel like catching an elusive butterfly.

There have been many times in my life that I wasn’t just procrastinating, I was just pure lazy. Even though in the back of my mind I knew I could never really live the life I wanted to live if I didn’t hop to it. I haven’t mastered being 100% percent productive 100% of the time, but here is what I do know.

Productivity is one of those things that you have to do your way.

People have written books about only working four hours a day, getting up at before the sun, yadda, yadda, yadda. These tips have been proven to work for some, they just didn’t work for me. The more I tried to be like them, the less time I spent on learning what made ME productive. Finally after living at Barnes and Noble and spending money that could have been better allocated I said forget this. I was tired of being depressed because I felt I didn’t measure up to these books productivity standards? I took a look at my life and figured out how much time I had to dedicate each day to my master plan without being a walking drone and how I was going to use that time. Here’s what I learned:

Find a time that works best for you: I physically cannot get up before a certain time: I use to say you are a looser, you just don’t want it bad enough.. nahhhh I don’t know about your body, but my body just does not work before 6:00 am Point. Blank. Period. So I don’t. I work better in the evenings and I am way more productive!

Have realistic expectations: I am a wife and a mother of two. I am unapologetic about making time for my family. I know realistically I need to spend time with them, be a chauffeur, make dinner, and be rested for my day job. I am not a single twenty something with no real responsibilities, and I don’t have all day to pursue my dreams; so I don’t expect those types of results when the rubber meets the road. It’s a marathon not a sprint people!

Maximize your time. I don’t have a lot of time, but I sure as hell maximize it. I work very well in short burst of up to like 3 hours. I take a break and hop back to it. I do this about 2 -3 times a day. If you work better for long periods of time go for it!

Office Shmoffice: I have one I don’t use it. I work better when I have things going on around me and I can multi task. I feel like I have to focus more because of the noise, and it makes me super productive. Crazy I know, but it works.

Use what’s in your tool box? Being tech savvy is all cool and stuff, but I get my best results with good ole’ paper and pencil. If I put info on my iPad or dates to remember in my phone I forget about them. I always have a notepad handy with my notes and to-do list for the day. I’m literally obsessed with drawing a line through my finished tasks!

Once you figure out what works for you being productive won’t be easy, but it will be less challenging.

Like with all things in life you have to make your own path.
