White is the standard for many things – walls, wedding dresses, icing etc., but when it comes to white casual clothing there are some perceived challenges. White is such an airy, simplistic color. Whether it’s a white manicure, shoes, or hair for that matter it can make you look very contemporary and modern. Unlike its opposite, black, white if often passed up for other tones because of its perceived difficult wear ability. We are here to dismiss the myth, you can wear all white, all the time like actor Lisa Raye or incorporate it into your wardrobe subtly like many fashionistas across the blogosphere. We personally are of a fan of white being worn year round, depending on your age you may still consider this a fashion faux paus. To those of you who give the middle finger to fashion rules we are going to give you a few mistake proof tips on how to incorporate white into your wardrobe.
White Top – Donna Karen taught us a long time ago that a simple white top is a must have. A clean crisp pure white shirt speaks volumes, is timeless, and very versatile. This is one staple item that we all should have in our closet. We recommend two staple white blouses in your wardrobe at all times; a white men’s button up shirt and a white statement top to be worn with simple bottoms such as a pencil skirt or skinny jeans.
White Jeans – Speaking of jeans, white jeans are an absolute. You can find them in stretch, distressed, skinny, palazzo or cropped, any way you serve them up we want a pair. White jeans are clean and classy and when paired with denim look ultra-chic.
White accessories – White leather belts are super sophisticated. Use the accessory to break up a monochromatic look in any color or create a statement with a high contrast black and white ensemble.
White shoes – Who said white shoes were reserved for British rockers? White stylist footwear is no longer Easter Sunday attire, those days have long gone. We’ve seen fashion icons such as Rhianna and Victoria Beckham sport white leather booties and single sole stiletto heels with fierce fashion forward flair. The right white shoe can be very high fashion paired with the right look.
